Key Responsibilities:
As a Specialist, Wine & Spirits you will be:
- Source, research, value, assess, and inspect property (wines and spirits) for consignment and sale across Asia.
- Drive business development to secure consignments for upcoming auctions.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and the Wine & Spirits team to develop strategies that generate new business opportunities.
- Actively solicit high-quality property from private collectors, trade clients, and other sources.
- Build and expand networks of buyers, including top collectors and dealers in the fine wine and spirits market.
- Respond efficiently and professionally to customer enquiries, both in the office and at external venues across Asia as needed.
- Organise tasting events, promotional activities, and other initiatives to support and promote auctions.
- Conduct business travel as required.
- Inspect, assess, catalogue, and prepare lots for upcoming auctions, both in the office and warehouse.
- Manage inventory of wine & spirits
- Contribute to catalogue production, ensuring accuracy and high standards.
- Support marketing and promotional efforts for sales and events.
- Manage all sale-related deadlines and timelines effectively.
- Assist with shipping logistics, post-sale arrangements, and client coordination.
- Assist with general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Genuine passion for wine and spirits, with deep knowledge of the category.
- Previous experience in the wine & spirits industry and/or at an auction house, with proven appraisal and valuation capabilities.
- Established knowledge of — and ideally existing relationships with — prominent collectors and dealers in fine wine and spirits.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and English (written and spoken) is required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proven ability to adhere to tight deadlines and perform well under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
